Hyundai has entered India’s commercial vehicle space with a new taxi-focused lineup called the Prime range. This new range includes two models, the Prime HB, which is based on the i10 hatchback, and the Prime SD, which is based on the Aura sedan. These cars are specially prepared for taxi drivers and fleet owners, with a strong focus on low running costs, easy maintenance, and reliable daily use.
The Hyundai Prime HB has been launched at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD is priced at Rs 6.89 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
What the Hyundai Prime Taxi Range Is About
With the Prime HB and Prime SD, Hyundai is stepping into the commercial mobility segment for the first time in India. These cars are designed mainly for taxi operators who need vehicles that can run for long hours every day without trouble. Hyundai says the focus is on high uptime, predictable service needs, and lower overall ownership costs, which are very important for people who earn their living from driving.
Bookings for both models are now open across India with a booking amount of Rs 5,000. Hyundai is also offering flexible finance plans, with loan repayment periods going up to 72 months, making it easier for drivers to own these cars.
Engine, Fuel Type, and Mileage
Both the Prime HB and Prime SD use the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is paired with a company-fitted CNG kit, which helps reduce fuel costs for daily taxi use. Hyundai has tuned this setup to balance smooth driving with better fuel savings.
In terms of efficiency, the Prime SD delivers a claimed mileage of 28.40 km per kg of CNG, while the Prime HB offers 27.32 km per kg. These figures make both cars suitable for long-distance city and highway driving.
To make ownership more stress-free, Hyundai is also offering extended warranty packages. These cover the fourth and fifth year of ownership or up to 1,80,000 km, whichever comes earlier. This is aimed at drivers who clock high mileage every year.

Even though these cars are built for commercial use, Hyundai has not cut corners on safety and comfort. Both models come with six airbags, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal, and a company-fitted speed limiting system set at 80 km/h, which is required for taxi vehicles.
For passenger comfort, features like rear AC vents, front and rear power windows, adjustable outside mirrors, and a rear defogger are included. Drivers benefit from steering-mounted controls, a fast USB Type-C charger in the front row, central locking, driver seat height adjustment, and footwell lighting, which improves visibility at night.
The Prime HB gets a few extra features such as rear adjustable headrests and keyless entry, which are not offered on the Prime SD.

Hyundai is also offering a range of optional accessories for the Prime taxi models at special prices. These include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear-view camera, a three-year warranty add-on, and a vehicle tracking system that comes with four panic buttons for added safety.
Both the Hyundai Prime HB and Prime SD are available in three colour options. Buyers can choose from Typhoon Silver, Atlas White, and Abyss Black, which are practical colours suited for commercial use.
