Harley-Davidson is preparing to expand its most accessible motorcycle platform, and the latest update comes in the form of the new X440T. Developed jointly with Hero MotoCorp, this upcoming model builds on the X440 but adds a fresher, more modern look. With the official launch just around the corner, the first reveal gives us a clear idea of how Harley wants to keep the X440 lineup strong in India.
A New Take on the X440 Design
The X440T is essentially a more stylish interpretation of the original X440. Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp have showcased the motorcycle ahead of its launch, giving enthusiasts a preview of a new roadster-style silhouette. The overall stance appears sharper, and even the colour options shown during the reveal are completely new.
This update can be seen as a timely refresh for the X440 platform. With recent GST changes benefiting motorcycles below 350cc, Harley needed a way to keep interest in the 440cc segment alive. The X440T seems to take on that role, bringing a more youthful and energetic appearance.
Key Styling Updates
Most of the visual changes appear around the rear section. The original X440 featured a classic-looking fender, but the X440T switches to a shorter, sportier rear fender, giving the motorcycle a more aggressive look. The single-piece seat seems to follow the same design as the X440, although there may be minor tweaks for comfort or styling.
The LED tail-lamp unit remains the same but is now integrated more neatly into the redesigned fender instead of protruding out. A new heat shield on the exhaust end-can adds a subtle modern touch. Harley-Davidson has also introduced refreshed graphics for the fuel tank and side panels, giving the motorcycle a livelier character.
Adding to the updated styling, the X440T features bar-end mirrors, likely reserved for the higher variant. Despite these cosmetic updates, many of the components appear to be shared with the standard X440, which could result in a slightly lighter kerb weight than the previous 190.5 kg figure.
Same Mechanicals as the X440
While the styling receives notable improvements, the mechanical setup remains familiar. The X440T is expected to use the same main frame, though the rear subframe may see minor changes to match the updated design. The motorcycle continues with USD front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, and disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS.
Wheel sizes also remain identical, with an 18-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, both running on alloy rims.
At its core, the X440T uses the same 440cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine from the X440. In its current form, the engine delivers 27 bhp and 38 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. These figures suggest that performance characteristics will remain unchanged, offering the same torquey riding experience.
As for pricing, the new model is expected to fall close to the current X440 range, which is priced between ₹2.4 lakh and ₹2.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch is likely to take place very soon.

Final Thoughts
The Harley-Davidson X440T brings a refreshed personality to the X440 lineup with its updated styling, sharper design language, and new colour options. While the mechanical setup stays the same, the cosmetic improvements alone make it an appealing upgrade for riders who want a sportier version of Harley’s most affordable motorcycle in India. With its launch expected shortly, the X440T could help keep momentum strong for the brand in the mid-size segment.
